I hardly use my Ipod nano anymore and I honestly prefer the Sansa Fuze Talking Mp3 players much better.

There is nothing better than the Sansa Fuze for managing and reading audiobooks. It provides us with absolutely all functions needed, and doesn’t overburden with unnecessary stuff. Ipod touch has an ability to go to the web, but for that we can use the computer which we have anyway.
I love Sansa Fuze!

I purchased the Sandisk E-260 over a year ago and have been completely satisfied with its capabilities. I had purchased other units from similar companies, but the price was almost ten times the Sandisk and not as versatile or rugged in use as the Sandisk. Accessible Electronics has been extremely helpful with my questions regarding Rock Box (the software installed in the unit) and have always been courteous and prompt in their assistance. I cannot recommend their services enough to those who are blind or with low vision!

I'm amazed by the sound quality and level of audio control available on my E280 Sansa MP3 player.   I've been using it for 4 months now, and have challenged it with every conceivable type of music form, plus a variety of audio books, and it has performed magnificently on all counts, thanks, to a large extent, to the extensive sound settings control menu.   I hadn't even heard of some of the sound options that Rockbox has made available on these units, but they sure make a difference in bringing the soundscape to acoustic reality!   I let some friends of mine listen to some romantic classical organ works through a set of inexpensive Sony Diskman headphones, and they said they really felt like they were sitting in a cathedral, which just about says it all!   Even a solo piano can be made to sound quite natural!   The book marking utility is particularly useful, since it retains the shuffle status you had selected for each folder, so that your books remain unshuffled, even if some of your play lists have been shuffled!   The optional automatic battery level announcements are great for preventing you from running out of power at inopportune moments.

I can't get over the difference between this one and the E-280!  The
E-280 is good, but this Fuze is like having HD TV verses regular
digital.  The details of each instrument are clearer.  Thanks again
for everything.

Anyway, while it took a bit of time for it to arrive due to festive season postal activity, (it was shipped to South Africa) it arrived nicely packaged, and in perfect condition, and after having gone through the Quickstart Guide which you find in a manuals folder on the unit itself I started playing around with it quite nicely/easily.

Will firstly just say that the E260 which I got hold of is a 4Gb model, but also has a slot for a micro SDHC Card memory card to add on to it if you need/want more space, and while it's a standard multimedia unit, this one has had the firmware upgrade done using something called Rockbox, which allows it to speak as well, and I think the currently used voice is something like Scansoft Jill - English, but think you could also use the Rockbox utility to change the language if you really wanted to......

This is all just my relatively newish users version of this player, and I'm sure will still find and make use of various other parts of it's functionality etc., and while can try answer your questions, it might be best to either also contact Accessible Electronics, or look into the mailing list above.

Either way, will just say that I'm rather impressed with this whole unit, and while the only other thing would have liked off hand is an external microphone jack, there's really not anything wrong with it as far as I'm concerned.
